Alana Generson, R.Y.T., B.A. - Co-Founder
Alana is a Registered Yoga Teacher, having received certification through Prajna Yoga in Santa Fe, NM, and Yoga on High in Columbus. At the age of 12, Alana faced a life-threatening illness which helped her discover the power of creative journaling and the need to take care of mind, body and spirit. She has worked and lived at The Omega Institute and was enlivened by the sense of community and holistic living she experienced there. She began meditating in her twenties and is a life-long student of this art.
Since 2001, David has been an enthusiastic and ongoing student of Breema: The Art of Being Present. His wish today is to work with Breema’s commonsense wisdom in as much of his life as possible, from work with clients to everyday tasks. He has deep gratitude for this Teaching as an aid to nurturing what is most essential in each of us, and he wholeheartedly enjoys the simple magic of each playful and enlivening class or treatment.
David is the only Certified Breema Instructor in Ohio, and has taught throughout the state, at locations including: The American Massage Therapy Association events including both State and Regional Workshops, The Gathering Place in Cleveland, The Unitarian Fellowship of Wayne County in Wooster, The Inn at Honey Run, Millersburg, The Yoga Place in N. Canton, Harmony Farm in Dayton, Lil Yoga Shop in Akron, The Camp Asbury Yoga Retreat in Hiram, Second Path Yoga in Miamisburg and at the Somatic Pedagogies Conference at Denison University.
He is additionally certified in Somatic Release in Clinical Massage and Bodywork for The Childbearing Year and has helped thousands of clients to reach greater levels of harmony and balance in their lives. He has also studied and utilizes in his practice; Craniosacral Therapy, Polarity, Shiatsu, and Reflexology. David has published over 170 articles covering the wellness arts, including over one dozen on Breema.
David Pratt, L.M.T., B.A. - Co-Founder
David is a Licensed Massage Therapist, a Certified Breema Bodywork Instructor and Practitioner, and has been practicing massage and bodywork in Millersburg since 1997. His interest in meditation began in childhood, and a transformational experience with hypnotherapy as a teenager helped to kindle a life-long interest in the pursuit of meaning and purpose in life. After studying and practicing a variety of healing and meditative arts, David spent a decade as a regular student and retreat organizer for Tim McCarthy, a Soto Zen teacher in the lineage of Kobun Chino Otagawa, Roshi.
Alana has been journaling daily for nearly 15 years and has been enjoying the practice of yoga since 1997. Her classes are quieting to the mind and body and warming to the heart. In addition to teaching at True Nature, Alana also teaches at The Yoga Place in North Canton, The Center For Balanced Living in Worthington, The Studio on Liberty, in Wooster and at The College of Wooster.
Alana completed undergraduate work at Penn State University and Temple Rome (Rome, Italy), and she received a B.A. in Humanities from The College of Santa Fe, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1998. She is a freelance writer and presented a paper at the 10th International Willa Cather Conference in 2005 and has published poetry recently in the Short North Gazette, Columbus, Ohio. She is currently at work on two vegetarian cookbooks.
